OpenCourt Mobile App

In my free time, I designed and prototyped a mobile app that helps tennis players to easily find and book courts, and connect with partners to play with.

(Problem)

Tennis players often struggle to find suitable courts to play on. The best available option, Google search, lacks key details at a glance, such as whether courts are public or private, require booking, or what type of surface they have. Another major challenge is finding compatible tennis partners. It’s difficult to connect with someone at a similar skill level, and even when you do, scheduling a time and place to play together can be just as frustrating.

I focus on solving the above problems and enable tennis players to:

  • Find the most suitable courts for them with simple search and filters

  • Easily see and connect with players who play around you or at your court

(SUMMARY)

The designs went through several iterations based on user research and testing. Initially, I focused solely on helping users find nearby courts easily. However, conversations with my tennis friends revealed another major challenge: finding a compatible partner who could play at the same court.

To solve this, the home tab now features both 'Courts' and 'Partners'. The court info page also gives users the ability to see all players who often play at the court, along with key information such as their tennis skill levels.
